Fabella Hospital – Daily whiteboard

This is a whiteboard that shows the daily delivery number of babies who are born at Fabella Hospital and the birth complications that arise. This is the only government funded maternity hospital in the whole of the Philippines. Over 50 babies are born there every day. Throughout the country the number of Filipino women who die during pregnancy is so high that the country won’t meet the UN’s Millennium Development Goal for reducing maternal mortality this year. In part, that’s because without birth control, women sometimes turn to illegal, and often dangerous, abortions.
